Swedish is light to medium and covers the whole body; it is for unwinding. Deep Tissue is slow and firm and stays on tight spots. At Yes SPA in Las Vegas both cost $60 for 30 minutes or $80 for 60.
How Swedish feels
Swedish feels smooth and easy. Long, gliding strokes run from the shoulders to the legs at light to medium pressure.
Nothing digs in. The point is comfort from the first minute to the last.
First-timers usually start here. More on our Swedish Massage page.
How deep tissue feels
Deep tissue feels strong and slow. Your therapist leans in with forearms and thumbs on the back, shoulders, and neck.
Your therapist lingers on the spots you point out, the ones a long shift or drive leaves behind.
Strong is fine; painful is not, and we back off the moment you say so. More on our Deep Tissue Massage page.

Choosing between the two
Ask yourself what the hour is for. Unwinding points to Swedish; a back that has been tight for days points to Deep Tissue.
Your taste in pressure counts as well, since light strokes bore some people and firm ones overwhelm others.
If this is your first massage, Swedish is the safer opener, and the pressure can always go up.
How firm is too firm?
If you catch yourself clenching or holding your breath, it is too firm. The right pressure feels strong but lets you breathe slowly.
Speak up early; your therapist would rather adjust than guess.
Mixing both in one session
You can ask for both: Swedish strokes overall, with deeper work saved for one or two knots.
Point to the worst spot and say how firm you want it there.
Price and booking
Both cost the same: $60 for 30 minutes or $80 for 60.
